Hair and makeup make a considerable difference. For professional headshots, references can be made should you need one. For personal photos, enlist a good friend to help you.

Bring a minimum of four outfit changes. Some outfits look good on the hanger, but occasionally clash in the photograph. Pieces should be predominately solid color. Patterns should be spared for accessories or layering pieces. A variety of hats, belts, and jewelry are recommended. Most importantly, make sure you are comfortable with what you are wearing.
